California sculptor Pascal Giacomini makes large and small sculptures for indoors, outdoor areas, and intimate home environments, including unique wall pieces. Searching for something unusual? Take a look at this consummate professional's interpretation of the classical African mask. Re-interpreting the mask for Western audiences using contemporary materials became a challenge for the artist, who owns a quite a collection of classical African masks. Working with metal, glass, resin, copper, and found objects, the artist, well known for his multi-faceted approach to art, has created a line of masks that can only be classified as out-of-the-ordinary — real conversation pieces! Born in France, and of Corsican ancestry, the artist ties together his French and Italian roots, and combines them with Los Angeles sensibilities, to create art that is whimsical yet classical; modern yet primitive; abstract yet figurative — and always with a contemporary flair. The artist also likes to work on commission. Masks by the sculptor are available for sale at Galerie Lakaye in Los Angeles, or you can contact the artist via this Web site. |
